Founded in 1749 by Francois Valle years before he became Commandante of the Fort of Sainte Genevieve and The King of Spain made him Don Francois Valle for saving their Fort San Carlos (now St. Louis).

We are 12 miles south of Crystal City/Festus on Highway 67. Go west on V road 200 feet and take a left onto "Valles Mines School Road" to #14117.

If you miss the turn: You can catch the other end of the road by turning right 1 1/2 miles south at the green "Valles Mines School Road" sign. Follow it downhill bearing right at the bottom and continuing to #14117.
