The Valles Mines Fault

The Interchange project exposed the underlying rock to a much greater degree on the northbound exit ramp of the Valles Mines exit near 3156 State Road V 63087

The drill hole logs above show a transition from surface dolomite to deep sandstone brought up by a reverse thrust fault (on the left of the arrow). Whether this sandstone has a high enough silica content to qualify as a fracking sand source will require an assay from a test lab. The old mine located on the right of the red arrow occurs back in the dolomite that ranges far to the south.
