Site #4 - Prospecting Before MoDOT's "Hwy 67 & V Road" Interchange Project
begins.
The Valles Mines Fault
The Interchange project exposed the underlying rock to a much greater degree on the northbound
exit ramp of the Valles Mines exit near 3156 State Road V 63087
The drill hole logs above show a transition from surface dolomite to deep sandstone brought up by a reverse thrust fault
(on the left of the arrow). Whether this sandstone has a high enough silica content to qualify as a fracking sand source
will require an assay from a test lab. The old mine located on the right of the red arrow occurs back in the dolomite that ranges
far to the south.
